(October 14, 2025) Crews are beginning work on the new traffic signal at NE 57th Avenue and NE Halsey Street. Beginning Monday, Oct. 20, crews will begin installing the new signal pole bases. This work is expected to take about two weeks. No work is scheduled to take place over weekends.

During this period of construction:

  • The traffic signal at NE 47th and NE Halsey will be turned off between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • Traffic flaggers will direct vehicles through the intersection.
  • Pedestrian pathways around construction will be provided.
  • Drivers should expect delays and follow all signage, flagger directions, and portable message boards.
  • No TriMet bus stops will be impacted.

Thank you for your patience as we complete this important improvement. PBOT has received many requests from neighbors and travelers to make this signal work better. These updates are designed to improve how the intersection functions, make it safer, and reduce conflicts between turning cars and people walking.

Other work continues

NE 60th and NE Halsey intersection: The current detour of northbound NE 60th Ave is still in place to continue pole installation and sidewalk work.

NE 57th and NE Halsey: No work is planned for a few weeks. Underground electrical elements have been installed.
