NE Broadway Pave & Paint - Project Background

Information
Fresh pavement and an updated NE Broadway streetscape from the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), coming in 2025.

In the summer of 2025, NE Broadway will be freshly repaved as part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining our transportation system. Ahead of this scheduled maintenance project, PBOT is exploring ways to change the layout of the street to be a safer, more vibrant, and more welcoming streetscape.

Project Goals

  • Support a Vibrant Main Street: The small business community on Broadway is home to many beloved businesses. We want to make the streetscape work better for them.
  • A Safer Street with Slower Speeds: We want NE Broadway to be a safer street with fewer crashes, safer speeds, and a more welcoming environment for everybody.
  • Improve Access for People Walking & Biking: Whether you’re trying to cross the street, catch the bus, or get where you’re going on a bike, Broadway can be a stressful and unwelcoming environment. We want to fix that.
  • Develop a high-quality project with broad community support that supports adopted policies, meets city standards, and is delivered on-time and on-budget.
