SE 46th Avenue Neighborhood Greenway

Transportation
Engineering And Design
Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will be installing a new neighborhood greenway on SE 46th (and SE 47th) Avenue. Neighborhood greenways are low-traffic and low-speed streets where we give priority to people walking, bicycling, and rolling.
Construction expected in 2026
Location Description
SE 46th/47th from SE Woodstock Boulevard to SE Gladstone Street

What's Happening Now

PBOT proposes parking removal on the west side of 46th Avenue between Ramona Street and Woodstock Boulevard to allow for a bike lane on each side. This would allow bicyclists of all ages and abilities to travel through this street segment that carries high traffic volumes.

PBOT staff sent notification letters to residents, businesses, and property owners on February 10, 2026. Reach out to project staff with questions or comments.

Project Details and Map

A map of the proposed route can be seen below. The project team is still determining the specific route and design treatments.

Background

This new neighborhood greenway project was identified in the Lower Southeast Rising Area Plan. This project creates a calmer street for people walking and biking north-south and provides a connection between the Gladstone Neighborhood Greenway and community destinations including Woodstock Park, Woodstock Elementary School, and Woodstock Main Street. Neighborhood greenways often include wayfinding, speed bumps, and crossing enhancements.

This project is funded by Portland Clean Energy Community Fund (PCEF) Strategic Program 30: Active transportation small capital projects.
