The Portland Bureau of Transportation is constructing a pedestrian and bicycle bridge between Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway and SW Capitol Highway, a critical segment of the Red Electric Trail system,
What’s happening now?
The project was advertised for construction on September 28, 2020. Bids will be opened in late October. Construction is planned to begin in early 2021.
This segment will include a 10-foot wide trail from the intersection of SW Bertha Boulevard and Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, travelling south over a ravine on a 12-foot-wide bridge where it will intersect with SW Capitol Highway.
Additional project elements include:
- Guardrail work along Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway
- Sidewalk curb ramps
- Pedestrian and bicycle crosswalk striping
- Grading and drainage
- Retaining walls
- Vegetated stormwater facility
- Tree mitigation plantings
- Restoration plantings
