What’s happening now?
This project was completed July 2023.
PBOT will make improvements along SW Custer Drive from Capitol Hill Road to SW 13th Avenue. Sidewalk will be added along the north side of SW Custer Drive to provide a continuous pathway for walking, rolling, and strolling.
PBOT will also make improvements to SW 26th Avenue from the I-5 Underpass to Taylors Ferry Road. SW 26th Avenue will be repaved, and we will add a multiuse path for people walking and bicycling along the east side of SW 26th Avenue. Pedestrian and bicycle connectivity will be added through the SW 26th Ave and SW Barbur Ct intersection and will be completed after ODOT's I-5 bridge improvement project over SW 26th Avenue. Improvements include bicycle facilities, crossings, and upgraded ADA curb ramps.
PBOT is coordinating with the Oregon Department of Transportation to deliver full connectivity along SW 26th Ave. Multiple construction projects will include replacing the I-5 bridge over SW 26th.
Project Components
The two project areas include:
- SW Custer Drive from Capitol Hill Road to SW 13th Avenue
- Sidewalk infill along the north side of SW Custer Drive to provide continuous sidewalk.
- SW 26th Avenue from the I-5 Underpass to Taylors Ferry Road

Construction Impacts
Parking will be permanently removed along the west side of 26th Avenue to allow space for the multi-use path.
Along SW 26th Avenue, single lane closures may take place during construction and will be signed and flagged appropriately.
SW Custer will have limited impacts. Brief access restrictions during active construction.
