Project Schedule

This project is currently in design. PBOT will construct crossings on NE Killingsworth Street at 7th, 22nd, 25th and 27th in fall 2024. Crossings at 11th, 13th, 17th, 35th and Cesar Chavez will be constructed in the summer of 2025.

Project Scope & Background

This project will improve safety on NE Killingsworth Street between NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and NE 42nd Avenue by adding nine pedestrian crossings. Pedestrian Islands will be added at NE 7th, 11th, 13th, 35th Place and Cesar Chavez. Curb extensions will be added at NE 17th Avenue, and the current paint and post crossing at NE 22nd Avenue will be upgraded to cement floating islands. The spacing of these crossings will bring the corridor up to PedPDX spacing guidelines, improve pedestrian safety, and provide a traffic calming effect.

The project is funded through the State Funded Local Projects program administered by the Oregon Department of Transportation, PCEF, and HB2017.
