The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will construct pedestrian crossing improvements across I-405 on W Burnside and NW Couch as well as operational improvements for people driving in the area.

Project Schedule

Project construction on this project is behind schedule and the project is now expected to be completed in the spring of 2023. Supply chain issues as well as some unexpected underground conflicts contributed to delays.

Project construction was originally scheduled to begin in September, 2021 and slated to be complete in the summer of 2022.

Project Background

The project was conceived during the Pearl District Access and Circulation Plan and includes new marked crossings, curb extensions, street lighting and traffic signal upgrades.
