Information on the status of elevators and elevator repairs for pedestrian crossings owned or managed by the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), including the Gibbs Street Pedestrian Bridge in South Waterfront by OHSU and the Bob Stacey Overcrossing at Gideon Street in Southeast Portland.

Bob Stacey Overcrossing at Gideon Street in Southeast Portland

Elevator Status: Both elevators are in service.

In the event that these elevators are not operational, see below for detour information.

Suggested detour Information (from the north side):

When no train is present:

  • Head north on SE 14th Avenue toward SE Clinton Street.
  • Turn left on SE Clinton Street.
  • Turn left at SE 12th Avenue toward SE Gideon Street.
  • Turn left at SE Gideon Street and continue straight until you reach the bridge.

If a train is present:

  • Head north on SE 14th Avenue.

  • Turn right onto SE SE Taggart Street.

  • Turn right onto SE 19th Avenue.

  • Cross the SE Powell Boulevard frontage road at marked crosswalk to access multi-use path.

  • Turn right onto the multi-use path on the north side of SE Powell Boulevard, then continue under the bridge to the other side.

  • Turn right and use marked crosswalk to cross the SE Powell Boulevard on-ramp, and turn right again onto the multi-use path on the north side of the on-ramp.

  • Turn left and left again at the triangular landscaped area near the railroad tracks to access the multi-use path to SE Gideon Street, and continue straight until you reach the bridge.
     

Suggest detour Information (from the south side):

When no train is present:

  • Head northwest on SE Gideon Street to SE 12th Avenue.
  • Turn right at SE 12th Avenue to SE Clinton Street and head east to SE 14th Avenue.
  • Turn right on SE 14th Avenue and go straight until you reach the east side of the train tracks. 

If a train is present:

  • Head southeast on SE Gideon Street past SE 13th Place and continue straight onto multi-use path at end of SE Gideon Street.

  • Turn right and right again at the triangular landscaped area near the railroad tracks, then continue to the marked crosswalk across the SE Powell Boulevard on-ramp.

  • Turn left and use the marked crosswalk to cross the on-ramp, then turn left again onto the multi-use path on the north side of SE Powell Boulevard.

  •  Follow the multi-use path on the north side of SE Powell Boulevard, going under the bridge until reaching the marked crosswalk at SE 19th Avenue.

  • Turn left and use the marked crosswalk across the SE Powell Boulevard frontage road, then continue along SE 19th Avenue toward SE Taggart Street.

  • Turn left onto SE Taggart Street until you reach SE 14th Avenue.

  • Turn left on SE 14th Avenue toward the train tracks.

Head east on S Gibbs Street toward S Hood Avenue, turn left onto S Hood Avenue and continue straight until S Corbett Avenue, turn right on S Corbett and follow it until you reach S Sheridan Street, take a right on S Sheridan Street, right on S Moody Avenue and continue straight until you reach the bottom of the elevator.
