Due to the narrow road conditions and limited shoulder space, SW Sam Jackson Park Road will be closed to all traffic during construction for the safety of all travelers and workers.

(July 8, 2026) The paving season continues for the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), as crews will grind and repave an estimated 1.06 lane miles on SW Sam Jackson Park Road from SW Marquam Street to Campus Drive this weekend on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12.
Maintenance paving crews expect to work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Due to the narrow road conditions and limited shoulder space, SW Sam Jackson Park Road will be closed to all traffic during construction for the safety of all travelers and workers. Access to the Marquam Nature Park trailhead will also be closed. When the road reopens to the public on Saturday evening, travelers should expect an abrupt edge overnight.
Portlanders can expect daytime noise and travel delays. SW Sam Jackson Park Road is a Major Emergency Response route used by ambulances and other first responders traveling to and from the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) campus.
The work is funded by Fixing Our Streets, Portland's voter-approved 10-cent gas tax and heavy vehicle use tax for fixing our streets and making them safer for all.
The traveling public is advised to expect delays, travel cautiously, observe all closures and directions by flaggers, and use alternate routes if possible.
This work is weather-dependent, and the schedule may change.
