Mayor Wilson activates signal at SW Fourth Avenue and SW Madison Street

Last Thursday, Portland Mayor Wilson joined PBOT staff to activate the new traffic signal at SW Fourth Avenue and SW Madison Street. The new signal is one of several being installed as part of the SW Fourth Avenue Improvement Project.

The upgraded signal replaces older equipment that had become difficult and costly to maintain. Additional signals on the corridor are designed to reduce ongoing maintenance costs and support safer, more reliable operations for people walking, biking, taking transit, and driving.

Working late downtown? Park smarter for less!

PBOT is lowering the cost to park for individuals working swing shift and/or evening schedules in downtown Portland. The SmartPark Swing Shift Parking Permit is available to anyone working late or through the evening for $36 a month. Individuals may apply for a parking permit for one of the five public SmartPark garages. The permits are valid between 2:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. daily.

The monthly permit offers a low-cost option for evening shift workers while leaving readily accessible on-street parking spaces available for customers and visitors.
