(July 24, 2025) Portland Sunday Parkways Presented By Kaiser Permanente is rolling back into East Portland on Sunday, July 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hosted by the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT), this accessible, family-friendly event invites you to walk, bike, roll, and play safely on four and a half miles of car-free streets filled with free entertainment and activities for all ages!
Along the route, explore vendor marketplaces, community booths, family-friendly activities, and live entertainment at Gateway Discovery Park, Ventura Park, Lincoln Park, and Parklane Park. Parklane Park returns to the route for the first time since 2022. The Sunday Parkways team is excited to welcome community back and showcase the many improvements that have transformed this beautiful park space!
Free programming this Sunday
The East Portland Sunday Parkways event brings the whole community together with free, inclusive, and family-friendly fun for all ages! Highlights of the event include:
- Don’t miss the Kaiser Permanente Sticker Hunt! Visit their booth at each featured park to take part in interactive, health-focused activities. Collect a sticker at each spot, and once your map is complete, bring it back to any Kaiser Permanente booth to claim a special prize.
- Join “Fix a Flat” bike demos led by Portland Bureau of Transportation’s Portland By Cycle Team to get hands-on experience repairing a flat tire. Don’t miss this chance to boost your bike confidence!
- Make Music Day PDX and SoundsTruck NW will provide live local music at Gateway Discovery Park and Parklane Park. Enjoy a diverse lineup of performances curated to celebrate the sounds of summer.
- Get ready to move! DJ Ambush and DJ Dock Rock will keep the energy high with live DJ sets throughout the day, while Hip Hop Soulsation Academy brings hip-hop dance performances to Lincoln Park. Join in on group movement sessions including yoga with Love Our Practice, Bollywood dancing led by DJ Prashant, and Zumba with Portland Parks & Recreation.
- Explore hands-on fun with stilt walking, juggling, and obstacle courses hosted by Echo Theater, or spark creativity with the FLIP Museum’s play-based exhibits—featuring a food cart display, magnet wall, wind tunnel, and more. Don’t miss Circus Cascadia’s interactive circus workshop, where kids and adults can try out their circus skills. Plus, enjoy free face painting offered all day by local artist Romonsta.

Traffic impacts
During East Portland Sunday Parkways, streets along the route will be closed to motorized traffic from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with limited local access to homes or businesses on the route. Avoid the area to avoid delays! If you must drive through, intersections will have temporary barricades set up with volunteers available to help people who are driving get to where they need to go.
The East Portland Sunday Parkways event route features designated crossings for motorized vehicles to allow safe passage through the area. Car traffic is permitted to cross the event route at the following major roadways: NE Glisan Street, East Burnside Street, SE Stark Street, SE 122nd Avenue, SE 135th Avenue, SE 140th Avenue, and SE 148th Avenue.
Getting to the East Portland event
Getting there can be part of the adventure! With limited parking available, we encourage you to walk, bike, roll, or hop on public transit. Plan ahead to make the most of your day and arrive ready for fun.
- Bookmark the Sunday Parkways Google map to help with navigation on event day, find BIKETOWN stations along the route, and more.
- Ride BIKETOWN for free! During the event, there will be unlimited 60-minute rides from BIKETOWN on the day of the event. Rides must start or end on the Sunday Parkways route and end within the service area to be eligible. Please remember to lock the bike before the 60 minutes run out. You can then start another free trip up to 60 minutes. Visit your phone's app store to download the BIKETOWN app!
- For those riding bikes to the event, take a look at the Portland By Cycle’s Citywide Bike Map. It will direct you to the route via neighborhood greenways and the least-congested arteries.
- Plan your bus route to get to the event using TriMet’s Trip Planner. Bringing your bike is no problem as TriMet buses are equipped with bike racks.
- PBOT has shared e-scooter programs with Lime and BIKETOWN + Lyft that you can access from your phone and pay by the minute to use.
