(June 4, 2025) The City Bike Bus is here to stay! Following two successful community bike events on April 22 and May 14, the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is excited to announce a series of monthly rides for the 2025 City Bike Bus season.

A bike bus is a group of students—but in this case, adults—biking to school—but in this case, downtown—together. Ride with the City Bike Bus on the second Wednesday of the month, now through October. Bike downtown with coworkers, neighbors, and friends on:

Choose from one of nine routes across the city. You can start at the beginning or join anywhere along the route. We have estimated arrival times at intersections along each route listed on our website to know what time to “catch the bus."

Each bike bus will depart from their start location at a different time and arrive at Salmon Street Springs at 8:15 a.m. where participants can enjoy coffee, breakfast treats, and tunes!

"I think the biggest takeaway from this event was just how fun it was to be riding with a bunch of people - chatting in the morning, connecting as part of the community, and enjoying bikes," says a community member interviewed at the April 22 City Bike Bus.

All nine routes utilize Portland’s extensive, low-traffic Neighborhood Greenway network to ensure a comfortable commute for all. New commuters are welcome and encouraged to join. No rider will be left behind.

Now’s the time to get your bike up and running for summertime riding! Find quick tutorials and in-person maintenance workshops on our website. You can also find information about other PBOT-led group rides to keep the momentum going all summer long!

Need a bike? Consider riding with BIKETOWN—Portland's easy, affordable, and super-fun way to get around. Just hop on one of their e-bikes and be on your way. Check the BIKETOWN map for station locations around town.
