(June 18, 2025) On Sunday, June 22, the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will be conducting ditch line maintenance on SW Sam Jackson Park Road from SW Terwilliger Boulevard to SW Campus Drive.

The work is expected to last approximately two days and will help better capture water runoff from the roadway and hillside. It was initially expected to start on Saturday, but work was delayed because of forecast rain. A second work day will be set at a later date.

Ditch maintenance involves clearing debris, controlling vegetation, and repairing erosion in ditches running parallel to the street. The work helps to maintain unobstructed water flow and prevents potential blockages that could lead to street damage or flooding, it also helps extend the effectiveness and life span of the ditch lines.

Maintenance crews will work from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Expect dust, noise, vibrations, and heavy equipment along the roadway. Parking will also be restricted in the area. As always, please keep our crews safe by following all traffic control signs and flaggers while travelling through or near work zones.

The traveling public is advised to expect delays, travel cautiously, observe all closures and directions by flaggers, and use alternate routes if possible.  Local access to residences and businesses will remain available. Public transit riders should check the TriMet website for service impacts.

This work is weather-dependent, and the schedule may change.
