Treat your loved ones this Father's Day with fun, family-friendly activities and the opportunity to explore the beautiful Northeast Cully neighborhood on 6.2 miles of car-free streets!
Sunday Parkways is a beloved community event that promotes open streets, active living, and community engagement by closing streets to motor vehicles and opening them to people for walking, biking, rolling, and playing.

Exclusively at NE Cully Sunday Parkways: Bill Walton Memorial Ride
A Bill Walton Memorial Ride will be held at the NE Cully Sunday Parkways to commemorate the Portland legend who loved Rip City and bicycling. Participants are welcome to join the ride at 2:00 p.m. The ride meetup location will be in the grass area along NE Mason Street & NE 72nd Avenue. Make sure to wear your tie-dye, headbands, Portland Trailblazers gear, and some 70’s-style hot pants in his honor as you cruise the 6.2-mile route in the spirit of ‘77!
Traveling to and around Northeast Cully Sunday Parkways
Participants are welcome to join the Northeast Cully Portland route at any point and head in any direction. This event route is designed to highlight the network of neighborhood greenways and other infrastructure, parks, and community resources. There will be areas along the route and at the featured parks where circulation slows for vendor marketplaces, community booths, free family-friendly activities, and live entertainment.
Whether you choose to bike, walk, roll, or take public transportation, getting to the event is part of the fun! Let the excitement build with each step or pedal stroke getting you closer to the Sunday Parkways event.
Heading to Sunday Parkways from outside the neighborhood? The following transit routes will bring you to the Northeast Cully Portland Sunday Parkways route:
- Line 12 – NE Sandy Boulevard route
- Line 24 – NE Fremont Street route
- Line 70 – NE 33rd Avenue route
- 71 – North 57th Avenue, NE Cully Boulevard, NE Prescott Street route
- 72 – NE Killingsworth Street route
- 75 – NE 42nd Avenue route
Need a bike? Free, unlimited 60-minute rides on BIKETOWN are available the day of the event. Rides must start or end on the Sunday Parkways route and end within the service area to be eligible. Please remember to lock the bike before the 60 minutes run out. You can then start another free trip up to 60 minutes.
Traveling by car? During the Northeast Cully Sunday Parkways event, streets along the route will be closed to motorized traffic from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with limited access for people living on the route. The event route’s intersections will have temporary barricades set up with volunteers available to help people get where they need to go.
The Northeast Cully Sunday Parkways route features designated crossings for motorized vehicles to access during the event. The above map indicates where car traffic will be allowed to cross the route from NE Killingsworth Street (at 37th, 54th, and 55th avenues), from NE 42 Avenue (at Simpson Street and Alberta Court), from Prescott Street (at 54th, 55th, and 72nd avenues), and from Cully Boulevard (at Alberta and Mason streets).

Fun for all at Northeast Cully Sunday Parkways
- The Adaptive Bike Clinic with Shriners Children’s Portland, Adaptive SportsNorthwest, Adaptive BIKETOWN, and BIKETOWN is returning this year from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the corner of NE 37th & Ainsworth. This clinic is intended to introduce options for recreational adaptive bikes, typically for ages 6 and up. There will be a fleet of adaptive bikes to ride and trained professionals available to assist with fitting. Meet at NE 37th & Ainsworth between 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. to join a group adaptive bike ride!
- Boom Bike PDXwill serenade our open streets with performances by Dan Kaufman and Barb Murphy on this pedal-powered mobile stage!
- We are excited to partner with Stronger Skatepark, this organization will activate Khunamokwst Park’s skate bowl and provide skateboarding gear while teaching the basics of pushing and riding.
- SoundsTruck NW and Make Music Day PDX are joining forces and hosting three music stages at Fernhill Park, Khunamokwst Park, and Wellington Park to showcase Portland's diverse local artists with captivating performances throughout the day.
- Rose City Rollers' Skatemobile will provide free skate rentals from 12 pm – 3pm in the Morning Star Church parking lot, right next door to Khunamokwst Park. This parking lot also features a traffic playground for event participants to enjoy.
- The popular Kaiser Permanente Sticker Hunt is also back, inspiring us to get our bodies moving while exploring the Cully neighborhood. To play, pick up a map at any Kaiser Permanente booth located at each featured park along the route. Visit all the locations on the map and complete the activity, bring the completed map (5 stickers) to any Kaiser Permanente sticker hunt booth to receive a prize!
