(Feb. 14, 2024) As construction on the Portland Bureau of Transportation's (PBOT) Central Eastside Access and Circulation project continues, nighttime lane closures will be in place starting tonight at 9 p.m. on SE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard approaching SE Salmon Street and will continue every evening through Thursday, Feb. 22.
Lane reductions will begin each night at 9 p.m. and reopen at 5 a.m. each morning, in order to reduce impacts to the people traveling during the day.
The Central Eastside Access and Circulation project will improve freight access and circulation and reduce multimodal conflicts in the Central Eastside by adding traffic signals, consistent with the adopted SE Quadrant Plan, Central City 2035 plan, and Central City in Motion.
People traveling on SE Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard through the Central Eastside should expect delays between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. People walking, biking and rolling should expect delays as flaggers assist them through the work zone. Nearby residents and businesses can expect construction noise and some night work. People riding transit can visit trimet.org/#alerts/ for the latest service impacts.
We ask the public to travel cautiously, observe all lane detours and directions by temporary traffic signals and flaggers, and use alternate routes if possible. PBOT greatly appreciates the patience and understanding of nearby residents and businesses.
This work is weather dependent and the schedule is subject to change.
