(March 31, 2020) A landslide on West Burnside at 24th Place will require a lane closure overnight as Portland Bureau of Transportation’s (PBOT) Maintenance Operations and Portland Parks & Recreation’s Urban Forestry crews continue to manage the still-active slide. For the safety of travelers, the northernmost westbound travel lane will remain closed overnight and into tomorrow for further repairs and assessment.
Maintenance crews responded to the slide early Tuesday morning. Engineers from PBOT and urban foresters from Parks & Recreation arrived shortly thereafter to assess the slide and begin debris and tree removal. Crews were unable to complete debris removal and will return to the slide tomorrow to continue the work and further assess the landslide.
Please avoid the area if possible and expect delays. We ask the public to travel cautiously, observe all directions by reader boards and flaggers, and use alternate routes.
