I was running a bit late this morning, but couldn't help but stop my bike at the lower level of the Steel Bridge for one of the coolest bike events for casual and hard-core cyclists alike, Breakfast on the Bridges.

On the last Friday of every month (except November and December), the bike-fun group Shift provides free pastry and hot beverages to pedestrians and cyclists on the Hawthorne Bridge and the Steel Bridge. It's a great time to stop and chat with other folks making the green commute.

At the event this morning was Edwin Skaug of A Convenient Cycle. Edwin re-assembled a used fixed gear Dutch cargo bike and transformed it into a mobile bike repair shop.

A Convenient Cycle is usually hitched at SE 11th/Clay along with a bevy of tasty food carts. Edwin is also at different Portland events for if your steed needs some love, keep an eye for Edwin and his mobile cart.

A Convenient Cycle also has a bike shop in the Active Space building at 833 SE Main.
