(May 3, 2018) – The City of Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that street maintenance and safety improvements will require lane closures on N Rosa Parks Way from N Williams to N Interstate Ave beginning Friday, May 4, and continuing through May 22, from 7 a.m. through 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.

The lane closures will allow crews to grind and pave 3.38 lane miles of road surface, extending the life of the pavement. Crews will also include a physically separated bicycle lane to provide safe, more comfortable bicycle access.

This work is part of series of paving and safety improvements under construction through late summer on N Rosa Parks Way from N Willamette Blvd to NE MLK Jr. Blvd.

During repaving projects, PBOT seeks to improve the traffic operations and safety for all road users. By combining maintenance projects with operational improvements such as new striping configurations, PBOT more efficiently maintains the transportation system and improves road safety simultaneously.

Learn more about forthcoming improvements for people walking, biking and accessing public transit at the Rosa Parks Way Paving Project web site.

The traveling public is advised to expect delays during work hours. During the grinding and repaving work, at least one lane will be open to travel in each direction at all times.

Streets with ground down surfaces are open for travel. Lane closures are only in effect during project work hours, Monday through Saturday. Access will be maintained for businesses and residents.

We ask the public to travel cautiously, observe all lane closures and directions by reader boards and flaggers, and use alternate routes if possible.

This work is weather-dependent and the schedule may change.
