On-street parking is free at meters on Thanksgiving Day

(Nov. 21, 2016) The Portland Bureau of Transportation advises visitors to Downtown Portland for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend that all SmartPark garages will close at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 23, for Thanksgiving Day and will re-open for Friday. (Except for O’Bryant Square garage, which will close at its normal time of 7 p.m.) The City will not charge at the meters for on-street parking on Thanksgiving Day, and regular parking rates will apply Friday through Sunday.

On Friday, November 25, on-street parking will not be allowed along the Macy’s Holiday Parade route from 6 – 11 a.m. Meters will not accept payment during those hours along the parade route.  SmartPark garages will re-open for Friday according to the following schedule and then will operate according to regular business hours:

  • 3rd & Alder -  Thursday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m.
  • 4th & Yamhill - Thursday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m.
  • 10th & Yamhill - Thursday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m.
  • 1st & Jefferson - Thursday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m.
  • Naito & Davis - Thursday, Nov. 24 at 5 p.m.
  • O’Bryant Square – Friday, Nov. 25 at 6:30 a.m. 

Excluding holidays, SmartPark garages are open for regular business all hours and all days with the following exception: O’Bryant Square garage is open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The six City of Portland SmartPark parking garages include nearly 4,000 public parking spaces and serve shoppers, business clients and visitors to Downtown Portland. Regardless of where you park around Portland, please remember to lock your vehicle, do not leave anything visible in your car and consider removing anything valuable beforehand.
