UPDATE (May 29, 2015) - Work crews will begin this project on SE Division and Ladd Avenue and will plan on rolling lane closures as crews progress towards Hawthorne during the course of this project. On Monday, only a few blocks of Ladd near Division will be affected. The rest of the street will be open for all travelers.
UPDATE (May 28, 2015) - We know this temporary detour is going be an inconvenience and appreciate your patience. We will have “bikes on roadway” signs on the 11th and 20th detours. Bikes will only need to use these alternate routes for outbound travel during work hours. Inbound travel on Ladd Ave will be open during paving work hours.
These repairs will improve SE Ladd for ALL USERS, making it a smoother bike ride. Ladd Avenue is being repaved now because the pavement has begun to degrade and will be a much more expensive fix if we wait any longer.

(May 28, 2015) – The City of Portland Bureau of Transportation advises the traveling public that street improvements will require lane closures on SE Ladd Avenue from SE Division Street to SE Hawthorne Boulevard from Monday, June 1 through Tuesday, June 9, from 7 a.m. through 5 p.m. each week day.
The lane closures will allow crews to pave 1.78 lane miles of SE Ladd Avenue. The planned street improvements include repaving Ladd Circle.
During work hours, SE Ladd Avenue will be open only in one direction, to inbound travel. People traveling towards downtown by bus, motor vehicle and bicycle will be able to share the road during those hours.
For outbound travel, alternate routes will be available. Buses and motor vehicles will be detoured to SE 11th or 20th avenues. People traveling by bicycle may use those alternate routes or neighborhood streets.
During non-work hours, the street will be open to all travelers. Portions of the road will have a rough surface until paving is complete. Access will be maintained for businesses and residents during the project.
The traveling public is advised to expect delays while repairs are being made. We ask the public to travel cautiously, observe all lane closures and directions by reader boards and flaggers, and use alternate routes if possible.
This work is weather-dependent and the schedule may change.
