PBOT Snowplow Naming Contest: Winter 2024 - 2025

Make history this winter season and help name five PBOT snowplows! Crews have been preparing for the possibility of winter weather since October and we need your help! This year, we’re asking the public to help name five of our 56 snowplows.

The results are in! Nearly 16,000 Portlanders voted on 20 snowplow names to rank their top five favorites from Jan. 13 - 22.

Timeline 

  • Dec. 23 – Jan. 5:The public submits snowplow name ideas with this form (form closes at 5 p.m., Jan. 5, 2025).

  • Jan. 6: PBOT staff select the top 20 snowplow names.

  • Jan. 13 - Jan. 22: Portlanders vote on their favorite names. Voting ends at 5 p.m., Jan. 22.

  • Week of Feb. 3: Top five snowplow names are announced. 

Contest rules

  • Suggestions are limited to 25 characters or less.
  • There is no limit on the number of submissions. If you have more than one idea, submit multiple forms. 
  • Please keep your suggestions work-appropriate. We will not accept snowplow names with profanity, slurs, or inappropriate language. 
  • Names of winning participants will be shared publicly. By submitting a suggestion, you agree to the City of Portland using your submitted entry in a public and official capacity.
