Cash Payment E-Scooter Rental Options

Find out how to rent a scooter with cash instead of a bank account or credit card.

Bird (black scooters)

Users can purchase prepaid Visa, Mastercard, and American Express debit cards using cash from retailers across Portland and use them to pay for Bird rides in the app or when using Bird’s SMS (text messaging) service.

Bolt (yellow and black scooters)

Call 866-BOLT-143 to make arrangements to pay without a credit card or bank account or to request that a Bolt employee comes to your location to pick up cash payment for a specific ride.

Lime (green scooters)

To use Lime’s cash payment option, users must be enrolled in Lime Access, Lime's discounted ride program.

Lime Access members will receive a text message with a link to Lime's Cash Payment Order Form. Users can access that link on a smartphone or computer. They will be instructed to enter their phone number and then redirected to the PayNearMe website to find cash payment locations nearby. Users will receive a barcode to take to the cash payment location, which they can print out and bring to the cashier or show the cashier on their smartphone. The cashier then scans the barcode and adds the user’s cash funds to their account.

Razor (red scooters with seats)

Razor offers a cash payment option that allows riders to rent a scooter from their Portland warehouse for a fixed period of time. Scooters are available for cash rental at 1831 North Killingsworth Street from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Spin (orange scooters)

Users who qualify for Spin Access, Spin’s discounted ride program, can also sign up to pay in cash using the form at the link above.

Users who do not qualify for Spin Access but want to pay with cash can only do so if they have a smartphone. Purchase a prepaid debit or credit card worth at least $10 and link it to your account in the Spin app.
