What’s happening now?
10-18-24 Update: The first phase of construction on SW 4th Avenue is nearing completion. Crews have made significant progress on repaving and concrete work between SW Lincoln and SW Mill. The next phases of the project will extend improvements north along SW 4th Avenue up to West Burnside.
During this first phase, contractors working for PBOT have been excavating the existing pavement, repairing the road base, and paving with new asphalt and concrete. Crews have focused on the west side of the roadway and are now completing work on intersections at SW Hall, Mill, and Harrison. One lane of SW Fourth Avenue will remain open and people driving, biking and taking transit on SW Fourth Avenue can expect delays, especially during the morning and evening commutes.
As part of the next steps, crews will wrap up work on stormwater management facilities and plan to reopen two full travel lanes for the holiday season from November 21 through January 2, 2025. Construction will resume in early January 2025 and is on track for full project completion by the end of 2025.
Schedule
Construction started in May 2024. PBOT expects the full project to be complete in the late fall of 2025.
