Adaptive BIKETOWN Summer Update 2026

Welcome to the Summer edition of the Adaptive BIKETOWN newsletter.  Since you last heard from us, we have been hard at work preparing the shop to resume regular rental hours. Now, we are excited to announce that we are open for rentals!

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of Adaptive BIKETOWN's operator, Nomad Cycles, our location at the red barn at OMSI on the Eastbank Esplanade is now open! You can now stop by to rent a bike during our operating hours:

Operating Hours: Wednesday through Sunday 11am-5pm (closed Monday and Tuesday)

Location: 1945 SE Water Ave., Bldg B (Big red barn next to OMSI)  Portland, OR 97214

If you have any questions about the program, or need assistance making a rental reservation, feel free to contact our operator at their email or phone number.

Adaptive BIKETOWN Events So Far

While working hard to restart our rental service this summer, we have had the opportunity to show up to several amazing events! It was outstanding connecting with many of you out in the community, and we can't wait to do more throughout the rest of the season!

East Portland Sunday Parkways

East Portland Sunday Parkways was the first official event that we did as the new Adaptive BIKETOWN back in June! We met so many of you who were excited to learn that Adaptive BIKETOWN was reopening and we were able to loan out three bikes to community members who wanted to join in on the fun but were not able to ride the traditional two-wheeled bikes offered by other programs.

Catch us on September 13, 2026 at the Downtown Portland Sunday Parkways at Pioneer Square from 11-4pm. Taking transit or riding in is encourage, as parking can be a challenge.

Group Rides

In addition to Sunday Parkways, Nomad Cycles has organized some amazing group rides already! If you couldn't make it to one of the rides, don't worry! There will be more in the future, stay connected through our website or Nomad Cycles Instagram page for their monthly All Wheels Welcome Community Ride.

Adaptive BIKETOWN Summer Snapshot

Since the start of July, over 100 rides have been taken at Adaptive BIKETOWN! We are so grateful to everyone who has stopped by so far, whether to rent a bike, or just to chat. It truly means the world to us!

We are so excited to see even more of you throughout the rest of the summer and beyond!

How to use Adaptive BIKETOWN

Adaptive BIKETOWN is open for walk-in rentals as well as reservations.

Adaptive BIKETOWN is located at the back of OMSI's northwest parking lot in a large red barn-shaped building. There is a small parking lot for Adaptive visitors on the east side of the building, and the entrance faces the waterfront. You won't be able to miss the new hand-made bicycle gate and adaptive bikes out on display.

First time adaptive bike fittings can take anywhere from 30 – 60 minutes. If this is your first time or you want to ride a different bike than you normally have, please call ahead of time to check on the shops current availability.
