Informational Panel: Understanding Deputy Administrator Roles and Responsibilities

Information
Adding deputy administrators is a key element of the city’s proposed new organizational structure. In this panel, deputy directors and administrators from peer cities discussed their role and leadership approach to delivering effective government services and support to their communities.

Chief Administrative Officer Michael Jordan and the charter transition team hosted a panel of leaders who currently serve or have served in a deputy administrator role in other cities and jurisdictions on the importance of these leadership roles in delivering community priorities. Each panel member shared their unique experiences and strategies on effectively navigating and adapting to complex and fast-paced environments to support employees and departments, maintain open and clear lines of communication among and between leadership, and advance a positive workplace culture.

Moderator:  Shoshanah Oppenheim (she/they), Charter Transition Project Manager, Portland, OR
