How will district coalitions change?

In 2024, Civic Life will change the District Coalition Office (DCO) model to move from 7 to 4 service areas which will all be supported by nonprofit-run district offices. For detailed information including upcoming meetings about this change, please visit the District Coalition Office Model Updates webpage.

What are the benefits of multi-member districts?

Today's council seats leave many residents underrepresented, a problem that is especially notable for East Portland. In the new form of government, the establishment of Portland’s four council districts help elected officials build stronger relationships with the communities they represent and understand the issues in these communities. Multi-member districts paired with proportional ranked-choice voting ensures that Portlanders are represented geographically and represented based on their interests and values.
