Welcome to Earth Day 2026!
This year's theme is Earth in Motion. How we move shapes our planet. Explore cleaner, more proactive ways to move through and live in Portland — from biking and TriMet to clean energy and the food we eat — at the city of Portland's Earth Day event.

Ongoing activities from 12 to 3 p.m.
- EV Tailgate Party, powered by PCEF
- Earth Day Kid Zone
- Lunch by Milk Crate Kitchen, while supplies last
- Lead testing by Multnomah County Environmental Health Department
- Free on-site screening of yard and garden soil or painted household items for lead. Bring up to 3 small bags of dry soil from your yard or garden or any paint or painted items for free lead screening by the Multnomah County Health Department.

- 1 p.m. — PBOT Earth Day bike ride
- 1: 30 p.m. and 2 p.m. — Electric street sweeper demonstration

April 1, 2026 — Walk+Roll for Earth Month in April 2026
Celebrate Earth Month this April by walking, biking, and rolling to school!
April 4, 2026 — Spring Tree Planting at Harrison Park
Volunteer to help plant trees at Harrison Park with Urban Forestry and APANO! Bring yourself, weather protection, and a water bottle. All tools and materials needed will be provided on-site.
April 10, 2026 — El Camino De Dolores: Dolores Huerta Walk+Roll to School Day
Student and teachers, celebrate Dolores Huerta's dedication to social justice by walking or biking to school. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the farmworkers' movement, her fight for equality, and how these struggles connect to current efforts for positive change.
April 11, 2026 — Earth Day Community Bike Ride
Join PBOT and BIKETOWN for a community bike ride from Parkrose Middle School as part of the City's Earth in Motion - Earth Day 2026 Celebration.
April 15, 2026 — Black Earth Day: Celebrating Black Tree Activities
Join Urban Forestry for our Black Earth Day Tree Talk. This event will be a presentation highlighting stories of Black tree activists around the world. Stories will be focused on individuals from Portland, New York, Colombia, Brazil, Cameroon, and Kenya.
April 17, 2026 — Earth Day Tree Walk with PBOT
Join Urban Forestry and PBOT for tree walk near Alberta Park. This walk will focus on canopy equity, pedestrian safety, and climate change. We will walk a slow 1.5 miles taking note of the trees and traffic infrastructure along our route from the north to south end of the park. This event is open for all.
April 18-19, 2026 — Free Compost Days 2026 hosted by PBOT
Every fall PBOT composts over 5,000 tons of leaves collected annually through the city's Leaf Day program. This effort helps keep streets safe by preventing clogged storm drains, flooded intersections, and slippery roads. This spring, we have so much we're giving it away for free!
