Portland Sunday Parkways Presented by Kaiser Permanente will kick off the 2026 season with the Southwest Portland Sunday Parkways event on May 17 from 11:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a great opportunity to explore the neighborhood on car-free streets.

Southwest Portland event route

The Southwest Portland event will feature two separate routes. The first route is a 2-mile multimodal route, for people to walk, bike, roll, and explore. The route will feature Gabriel Park, Multnomah Arts Center, and Spring Garden Park. Choose your own adventure by starting anywhere on the route to bike, walk, or roll as you explore the neighborhood.

The second route is a 2.6-mile walking route highlighting SW Trails work in the neighborhood and includes the same feature locations as the 2-mile multimodal route. 

Traveling north to south on the 2-mile multi-modal route, the route runs from the north end of Gabriel Park and continues on SW Vermont Street to 33rd Place, 33rd Place to Nevada Court, Nevada Court to 33rd Avenue, then entirely on SW Capitol Highway passing the  Multnomah Arts Center to Dolph Court, finishing up along Dolph Court until it meets Spring Garden Park.

Traveling north to south on the 2.6-mile walking route, the route starts at Gabriel Park's entrance on the corner of SW Vermont St and SW 37thAve,it weaves along the walking route that is in between the baseball field and Southwest 37th Avenue, until it reaches the Woodland Trail and loops around the central portion of Gabriel Park near the Gabriel Park Nature Patch to the south side of the park and ventures onward to SW Canby Street.

The path leads to SW 36th Avenue near the Village Park to SW Troy Street and crosses the multi-modal route on SW Capitol Highway and SW 35th Avenue. The route continues south along SW 35th Avenue, leads to SW Spring Garden Street and loops through SW Spring Garden Park, and the route ends on SW Dolph Street and into the Spring Garden Marketplace. The path loops around Spring Garden Park and provides exposure to one of the many great walking trails SW Portland has to offer!
