About the class: Finding Inspiration in Nature (Drawing Classes)  Session 2 

We live in an amazing world filled with beautiful and interesting creatures and plants. In this observational drawing program students will investigate natural specimen to create detailed nature based artworks. Scientific specimen may include ethically sourced insects, sea creatures, plant materials, and other natural materials. Program encourages observational skills, critical thinking, literacy, and informs on natural sciences. It is adaptable to any skill level.

Materials

  • Participants are encouraged to come ready to draw with a pencil, eraser, and paper.
  • If participants would like to add color to their drawings, colored pencils, watercolors, or similar are encouraged.

Teacher bio

Jess Graff is a mixed-media artist and educator who has participated in numerous gallery shows and residency programs at schools, art centers, and museums. Articles authored by Jess have been included in publications across the nation. She has also had the pleasure of presenting at arts and education conferences on the topics of creativity, collaboration, equity, and the power of play. She is passionate about creating equitable classroom spaces and artworks that invite people of all ages and backgrounds to collaborate and communicate together. As an artist with both Western European and Middle Eastern heritage, Jess draws inspiration for her artwork from her personal history, the natural world, and from moments of shared creative exploration with the families she teaches.
