Welcome to the captivating world of Samba Reggae!

Samba Reggae is a dance and social/political movement originating in Salvador Bahia Brazil. It is traditionally danced alongside “Bateria’s” or “Blocos;” musical groups of dozens of people led by the invigorating sound of percussive instruments. In this all-levels dance class series we will dive into the movements, sounds, and history of Samba Reggae where you will be tantalized by its infectious grooves and joyous movement. Vamos dançar! Join us in embracing the Dance of Brazil!

About the instructor:
Jamie Minkus is a local choreographer, producer, and teacher of Pilates and dance. She has been studying movements of the African Diaspora for 20 years. Her focus has largely been in Afro-Brazilian movements including capoeira, Samba, Samba Reggae and folklore as well as Afro-Cuban folklore for 10 years.
