Sunderland RV Safe Park (9827 NE Sunderland Ave.)

Closure Announcement

Intakes into the shelter will end at the end of December, but the Sunderland RV Safe Park will officially close on March 31, 2025. In order to accommodate the RV Safe Park, The Portland Bureau of Transportation’s maintenance operations were temporarily relocated to an alternative site under a time bound Permit with the Port of Portland. Following closure of the Sunderland RV Safe Park, PBOT will resume use of the Sunderland location for its maintenance operations.

Our goal, shared across the City and the Joint Office of Homeless Services, is that no guests will be returning to the streets. We will be working with all guests to identify an appropriate transition, including to temporary or permanent housing or transfer to other shelter sites. Coordinating closely with the Joint Office, our plan is to start working with guests on this process now, well in advance of the closing date to ensure as smooth a transition as possible.

If you have any questions about the process of closure, the transition, or anything else, please feel free to reach out to shelterservices@portlandoregon.gov.
