Tax Administration Policy - Acceptance of Electronic Payments

Binding City Policy, FIN-2.10 Electronic Payment Processing Services, authorizes Treasury to contract for and maintain services for accepting and processing electronic payments on behalf of the city. Bureaus may apply to Treasury to use these services, must consider the financial and operational impacts of providing this service prior to applying to use the service, and are responsible for costs related to providing the service.

The Revenue Division accepts credit card, debit card or Automated Clearing House (ACH) payments for several tax, regulatory and other programs it administers. The division offers this service as a convenience to those who desire to use one of these forms of electronic payment. The user paying with a credit or debit card may incur a service fee by the service provider if they choose to use this option. The service provider will clearly disclose the amount of the service fee during the transaction.

The following table identifies the various programs and whether the user may be required to pay a fee to use the service.
