Safer Summer PDX uses an evidence-based community violence intervention model that focuses on reducing gun homicides and shootings in the near term while creating a foundation for longer-term gun violence prevention work.

Environmental Services is making the largest investment in its North Portland wastewater treatment plant in 50 years. The Secondary Treatment Expansion Program (STEP) will expand, upgrade, and replace equipment and buildings that have been in service since the 1970s.

Part 1 of this project, which took effect in 2021, expanded the housing and shelter options for individuals and households with extremely low incomes. Part 2 of the project proposed several refinements based on the initially implemented code language and was adopted in February 2023.

The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and Portland Bureau of Transportation are working with community members to develop transportation and land use plans in South Portland, featuring a Naito Main Street Plan.

The project developed new approval criteria for additions, alterations, and new construction in the South Portland Historic District. The Portland City Council adopted the new design guidelines on November 9, 2022.

The River Plan / South Reach project will include a vision for the future of this unique part of the river over the next 20 years, updated Willamette Greenway Plan-related policies and regulations, implementation actions and a list of desired future investments.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is developing a permanent program for public street plazas. Plazas give right-of-way space back to pedestrians. They also provide space for more outdoor seating, events, and programming open to the public.

The City of Portland is working to protect and reinforce all human rights in the development, use, and governance of surveillance and emergent technology and ensure equal respect for and enforcement of all human rights online and offline.

The SW Corridor Equitable Housing Strategy guides housing policy and investments to leverage a once-in-a lifetime investment in light rail service to prevent displacement and increase choices for low-income households and communities of color.

It's a new way for people to be in the Central City … active, safe and fun. Whether on foot, bike or mobility device, people of all ages and abilities will be able to use the Green Loop to get to work, go for a jog, shop, eat out, play, and meet friends for lunch or a concert in a park.

Portland is participating in a 2-year Thriving Cities Initiative (TCI) pilot where city leaders work in partnership with community members and local businesses to address unsustainable patterns of consumption and production.

The Portland Water Bureau is replacing reservoirs that have served the city since 1894 with a new 12.4-million gallon, seismically reinforced underground reservoir.

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) promotes active ways to travel so we can move more people in the same amount of space. This supports PBOT's goals on mobility, climate, and equity. The industry term is transportation demand management (TDM). The 2021 Way to Go Plan guides this work.

Effective March 31, 2023, the WPTC Plan lays out a vision for a healthy, connected, and multi-cultural town center and includes an action plan to meet the diverse needs of current and future residents and businesses.

The Willamette River Crossing Project will build an earthquake-resilient water line deep under the Willamette River. The project will enhance our water system's resilience, ensuring safe and abundant water for generations to come.

The Willamette River Greenway Inventory includes data and maps describing land uses, zoning designations, natural resources and historic resources. The inventory does not propose any changes to regulations on properties within the Greenway boundary.

In 2023, Portland was awarded a U.S. Department of Transportation SMART grant to pilot a Zero Emission Delivery Zone and digital infrastructure tools. This PBOT project tests ways to create a safer, cleaner, more equitable transportation system while boosting economic opportunities.
