On July 21, 2021, Portland City Council adopted the ADA Title II Public Right-of-Way Transition Plan. The plan provides a framework for improving public right-of-way and related Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) programs so they comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

A critical north-south connection and one of Portland’s high-crash corridors, 82nd Avenue is in urgent need of significant investment to improve safety and address maintenance issues. As of June 2022, the state transferred ownership of 82nd Avenue to the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT).

The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) is developing a permanent program for public street plazas. Plazas give right-of-way space back to pedestrians. They also provide space for more outdoor seating, events, and programming open to the public.
