Learn about project types that qualify for the Remote Video Re-inspections (RVR) Program. Schedule an appointment for a virtual inspection. Our inspectors lead the virtual inspection, delivering instant results.
The Remote Video Re-Inspection (RVR) program offers a convenient alternative to on-site inspections for residential projects. With RVR, you can schedule re-inspections and receive faster results—all from the comfort of your home or project site—with a guaranteed virtual connection at your scheduled appointment time.
Eligible Re-inspections
- Any project requiring a re-inspection of qualified corrections
- Permit types include Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing
- Project phases covered: All Groundwork, Rough-ins and Final re-inspections
Restrictions
- First-time inspections are not eligible for RVR.
- Note: Correction of "No Plans on Site" or "No Access" does not qualify. You will need to reschedule an on-site inspection.
Schedule a Remote Video Re-Inspection
Instructions for your Remote Video Re-Inspection (RVR)
1. Ensure a reliable internet connection
- Use Wi-Fi (preferred) or a reliable cellular data connection.
- Make sure your inspection area has a strong signal and keep your device in range throughout the appointment.
Helpful Tip: Test your internet connection before your RVR appointment.
Important:
- A slow or weak connection may result in the inspection being marked Not-Ready, Partial, or Failed.
- Incoming calls or alerts during the inspection may also cause the inspection to be marked Not-Ready, Partial, or No Access. A new appointment would then be required.
- If the connection is lost, the inspector will try to reconnect for up to five minutes. If reconnection is not possible, the inspection will not be approved.
2. Gather required tools
Before your appointment, make sure you have the following tools ready:
- Flashlight
- Tape measure
- Level
- GFCI tester
- Sturdy ladder which is tall enough if required for access
3. Schedule your RVR appointment
- Click the scheduling link and select Remote Video Re-Inspections (RVR).
- Choose your date and time.
- Enter your contact information and permit details.
- Click Book to finalize the appointment.
- Enter the six-digit verification code sent to your email.
Confirmation:
- You will receive an email with your appointment details and the Microsoft Teams meeting link.
- To cancel or reschedule, use the link in your confirmation email.
Important: Schedule one IVR number per appointment. Multiple IVR numbers for a single site require separate appointments.
4. Prepare for your video call
- Fully charge your phone or tablet.
- Open Microsoft Teams.
- Have your RVR appointment confirmation email available.
- Turn off all power tools and equipment to ensure clear audio.
- Be ready to share video from your device during the appointment.
5. Start the RVR call
- Click the Join Your Appointment button in your confirmation email. The inspector will not call you.
- You may join the waiting room up to 15 minutes early. The inspector may start early if available.
- If you are late, the inspector will wait five minutes. After that, the inspection will be marked Not Approved – No Access.
- Turn on your camera and microphone.
- Follow the inspector's directions and show all required corrections.

6. Receive your RVR results
- The inspector will inform you if the re-inspection is approved or not approved during the call.
- Results are entered into the permitting system immediately.
- You will receive the inspection report via email.
- If the re-inspection fails, the report will list all items that need correction.
- Inspection results are also available on DevHub for viewing or downloading immediately.
Technical requirements for Microsoft Teams
Virtual RVR appointments are conducted through Microsoft Teams, a free video-conferencing application.
Download Microsoft Teams for mobile devices
If you plan to use a phone or tablet, download Microsoft Teams from your app store before your scheduled inspection.
Allow permissions
On Microsoft Teams, allow access to your microphone and camera.
Ensure a strong internet connection
A strong Wi-Fi connection is preferred. If Wi-Fi is unavailable, a reliable cellular data connection (4G/LTE) is required. Note: Limited data plans may incur additional charges from your service provider.
Check your device's compatibility
Older mobile devices, outdated operating systems, or lower-resolution cameras may not work properly with the RVR program.

Residential RVR Sewers Program
The Residential RVR Sewers Program allows you to schedule appointments for as-built sewer repairs or replacements.
After sending photos and videos of your backfilled sewer repair, a Permitting & Development inspector will review your submission and provide results for 350 and 399 inspections by email.
How to Participate
Review what information and media you need to submit:
- When scheduling your appointment, select Service Type: Sewers.
- Send the required photos and video as instructed in the guide.
