Advisory meeting for a proposal to demolish a contributing structure in the South Portland Historic District. UKANDU, a non-profit serving families impacted by childhood and adolescent cancer, proposes to build a campus at a site located at the intersection of SW 1st Ave and SW Porter St (118 SW Porter St / 3015 SW 1st Ave). The project involves demolishing a contributing and replacing it with an addition to the adjacent building. The total demolition of a contributing structure in a historic district is subject to demolition review which is a Type IV land use review procedure with City Council as the review body, and the Historic Landmarks Commission as an advisory body. If demolition is approved, the replacement structure will go through a Type III Historic Resource Review decided by the Historic Landmarks Commission. The structure proposed to be demolished is located at 118 SW Porter St. It is an approximately 930 SF one-and-a-half-story bungalow style house built in 1908 whose historic name is the Lucretia Nasts House. The adjacent non-contributing building to which the addition would be added sits to the east of the Lucretia Nasts House. It is an approximately 4,405 SF, two-story brick building built in 1978. The proposed addition is two-stories with a primary pedestrian entrance located on SW 1st Ave with a garage and secondary access on SW Porter St.
