  • Commercial (CO)
  • Residential (RS)
  • Zoning (ZP)
  • Site Development (SD)
  • Development Review (DR)
  • Trade permits that require plan review:

When you need a permit revision

You may need a permit revision if:

  • You have proposed changes to a project after you received a permit.
  • You did the work differently from the approved plans.
  • An inspector asked you to make changes to your plans. In this case, the inspector may ask that you apply for a permit revision.

Application requirements for a permit revision

An example of drawing cloud-circles around changes in your plans.
  • Show all changes on your drawings. Draw clouds around the changes so the updates are easy to spot.
  • Upload only the sheets that changed. Do not include sheets that aren't affected.
  • Remove old approval stamps and permit numbers before you upload your revised sheets.
  • Your associated main permit must already be issued or under inspection before you can submit a revision.
  • You can't submit a revision if another revision for the same permit is already under review.

Rules for commercial building permits

  • If the commercial permit is issued, adding a dwelling unit might be allowed as a revision. It depends on the main permit.

Rules for residential building permits

  • Your revision cannot change the permit type or add a dwelling unit.
    • Example: If you have a permit for an addition, you cannot convert it to an ADU through a revision.
