Request for Architecture, Trades and Construction Volunteers

Service
Do you have professional architecture, construction, or trades skills and want to give back to community? We are seeking volunteers to assist low-income homeowners, small businesses and arts and culture organizations to bring their properties up to code.

The form should take 5 minutes to complete.

We are seeking licensed construction, engineering, architecture and trades volunteers who align with the City of Portland's core values of anti-racism, equity, collaboration, transparency, communication, & fiscal responsibility.

The clients we assist are part of the Empowered Communities Program. The program assists homeowners who have received a violation letter from the city, small business owners, and arts and cultural organizations.

Here are some examples of types of needs:

  • Plumbing and electrical repairs and upgrades
  • Tile the floor and shower of a bathroom
  • Repair or replace asphalt driveway
  • Draft plans for a deck

If we have a client that needs your services, we will reach out with their information.  If you accept, you will work directly with them by sharing your expertise. Priority is given for health and safety improvements for low-income clients.

How we help:

  • Research property to understand code requirements
  • Outline scope of work to meet code requirements
  • Be a resource during the permitting process and inspections process

We also try to connect the client with city and community resources including permit fee reduction.

Please take a moment to fill out the volunteer form with your contact information and area of expertise. We will let you know about opportunities. Once you choose an opportunity, you will work directly with the client. Portland Permitting & Development does not offer any payment or benefits in exchange for volunteer services.
