Building Official Determination 26-03: Seismic Standard Edition

Allows the option to use the 2023 edition of the structural standard ASCE-41 instead of the 2017 edition.

QUESTION: PCC Title 24.85 defines ASCE 41 as the Seismic Evaluation and Retrofit of Existing Buildings ASCE/SEI 41-17 published by the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Structural Engineering Institute. Is it permissible to use a more current edition of ASCE 41?

RESPONSE: Yes. A designer may choose to use ASCE 41-23, as long as the 2023 edition is used for the evaluation and design in whole.
