I.    Definition

An annual permit, with mandatory application and fee, is required to operate a sidewalk café. It is unlawful to operate a sidewalk café without a permit. To operate a sidewalk café means to serve food or beverage from an adjacent café or restaurant to patrons seated at tables located within the sidewalk area adjacent to the café or restaurant.

Rules apply per City Code, Sidewalk Café Enforcement Procedure, and Sidewalk Café Permit Information and Application packet.

The Sidewalk Café Permit Information and Application is available at 1900 SW 4th Avenue on the first floor at the transportation permit counter or at 1120 SW Fifth Avenue on the eighth floor in the reception lobby. Call (503) 823-7002 option 5 to request the packet by mail.
