RULE:

No person shall smoke or use any form of tobacco in the South Park Blocks located on the Portland State University campus (i.e. the South Park Blocks between SW Market and SW Jackson streets). For purposes of this Rule smoking and tobacco is defined as, but not limited to: bidis, chew, cigarettes, cigarillos, cigars, clove cigarettes, e-cigarettes, hookahs, kreteks, pipe, smokeless tobacco, and snuff. Portland State University will take primary responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of this Rule.


RATIONALE:

Portland State University is implementing a Tobacco and Smoke Free Campus Policy on September 15, 2015. The South Park Blocks between SW Market and SW Jackson Street run through the middle of the Portland State University (PSU) campus. To promote consistency with PSU’s policy, it is advisable to ban smoking and tobacco in this area. Portland State University will take primary responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of this Rule.


Pursuant to Portland City Code 20.04.040, the above ruled is hearby adopted.
