Slavic Advisory Council Testimonials

Information

Colton Hennick, a former SAC intern from the PSU Russian Flagship Program

“I would say that my time serving on the SAC was a way to not only use my language skills to help strengthen the relationship between PPD and the Slavic communities of Portland, but to get a behind-the-scenes look, if you will, of the inner workings of city administration and the PPD. By visiting various training facilities, attending presentations and completing a ride-along with an officer, I gained a deeper understanding and respect for our officers and the work they do. I hope that the relationship between PSU and the SAC continues to grow as we both move forward”.

CHASE RIEGEL, a former SAC Intern from the PSU Russian Flagship Program

My time as a Slavic Advisory Council member was truly rewarding and inspiring. At every Council meeting and event I attended I was genuinely amazed by the passion that the members of the Council have for improving crucial relationships between the Portland Police Bureau and the Slavic community. I was thrilled to take part in this process first hand. I look back on my time with the Council very fondly and wish I had become a member sooner.”

OLGA PALCHEY a former SAC member

It’s thrilling to see first-hand the passion and devotion of the Portland Police Bureau Slavic Advisory council has for the Slavic community. Being a member of the Council gave me the opportunity to work with members who are motivated, dedicated and compassionate about their community and work hard to ensure that the Slavic community receives necessary support for their safety and stability. SAC council members show commitment to their mission that is supported by actions and not just words. I encourage all to get involved .”
