On Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6, 2026, the Portland Police Bureau (PPB) led a special mission to address illegal street racing, street takeovers, and other dangerous driving behaviors throughout the City of Portland.

Officers focused on identifying drivers involved in illegal street racing, reckless driving, Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII), and other hazardous driving behaviors. Officers also monitored areas near Skyline Boulevard and Barnes Road, where PPB's Central Precinct has received community complaints. No illegal street racing or street takeover activity was observed Saturday night.

Members from PPB's North, East, and Central Precincts, Canine Unit, Detective Division, and Specialized Resources Division participated in the mission. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office Transit Division and Air Support Unit also assisted.

Enforcement Summary:

  • 87 traffic stops
  • 7 vehicles eluded officers, including one vehicle estimated to be traveling at 150 mph
  • 1 stolen vehicle recovered
  • 4 vehicles towed
  • 4 people arrested

Portland Police will continue addressing illegal street racing, street takeovers, excessive speeding, and other dangerous driving behaviors throughout the city as resources allow.
