The Portland Police Bureau is releasing additional information about a fatal hit and run on Highway 26.

The Medical Examiner determined Julie A. Fortin died by suicide.
PPB is still seeking information about the driver, or drivers, who struck Fortin. Anyone with information is asked to contact crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 26-218870.

The individual killed in a hit and run on Highway 26 on July 28, 2026, has been identified as Julie A. Fortin, 45, of Beaverton.
Investigators believe there were people who stopped at the crash scene but left before speaking with detectives. If you were one of those individuals, please contact the Portland Police Bureau. The case number is 26-218870.

One Deceased Following Hit and Run on Highway 26
On Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 1:43 a.m., Central Precinct officers were dispatched to a pedestrian involved crash on Highway 26 near the Oregon Zoo. When officers arrived, they found a pedestrian deceased and the involved driver had left the scene.
The Major Crash Team is responding to assume the investigation. Information about the vehicle involved is not being released at this time.
Eastbound Highway 26 is closed at the Sylvan exit to all traffic. It will likely remain closed for several hours during the investigation.
