PPB Officers Quickly Locate Stabbing Suspect in Old Town

Portland Police Officers from Central Precinct responded quickly to investigate a stabbing, locate the weapon used, and arrested the suspect. Detectives assisted and that suspect is now in jail facing a felony assault charge.

On Wednesday, June 24, 2026 at 10:05 a.m., officers responded to a report of a stabbing at Northwest 6th Avenue and Northwest Everett Street. When officers arrived they found an adult male victim with a stab wound to the abdomen. EMS responded and paramedics treated the victim while transporting him to the hospital. The victim's injuries are serious but not believed to be life-threatening. 

Officers quickly developed suspect information and direction of travel. 

Officers located a knife that was believed to be used in the stabbing, then other officers located and challenged the suspect at Northwest Park Avenue and Northwest Everett Street. He was taken into custody at 10:38 a.m.

Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit assisted and they booked La'Darrien R. Meaux, 32, of Portland, into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Assault in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. The case number is 25-183201.
