The individual killed in the Centennial Neighborhood has been identified.

The individual killed in the Centennial Neighborhood over the weekend has been identified as 43-year-old David Livingston. His family has been notified of his death. They provided a photo and the following statement:
David was the protector of our family. He always stood up for those he loved. Whenever anyone needed help, he was there. He's a hard worker and always found ways to show up and provide however he could. He was a father of five. He had a funny sense of humor and knew how to make people laugh. His children, friends, and family are devastated by his death. However, everyone David was loved by will always honor his memory.
The Medical Examiner determined Livingston died of homicide by gunshot wound.

Shooting Investigation Underway in the Centennial Neighborhood, 1 Man Deceased
On Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 3:11 a.m., Portland Police Officers assigned to East Precinct responded to a call of a shooting in the 14700 block of Southeast Stark Street. When they arrived they found an adult male victim with injuries. Portland Fire & Rescue and AMR responded to treat the patient, and the man was transported to the hospital by ambulance. Despite extensive lifesaving efforts, the man died at the hospital.
The suspect or suspects left the scene and no immediate arrests were made.
The Portland Police Detective Division Homicide Unit responded to the scene to investigate the case. During the investigation, Southeast Stark Street is closed between Southeast 146th Avenue and Southeast 148th Avenue.

The PIO is not responding to the scene. Additional information will be released when appropriate. This is the 7th homicide of the year in Portland.
