The Portland Police Bureau (PPB) has arrested a suspect in connection with a road rage shooting that occurred in North Portland.

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers assigned to PPB's North Precinct responded to an apparent road rage incident in the area of North Denver Avenue and North Schofield Street. Officers determined that an adult male was driving in the area when another male in a separate vehicle fired a gun at him. Fortunately, the victim was not injured.

The case was subsequently referred to PPB's Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) for follow-up investigation. Through their efforts, ECST investigators were able to identify a suspect in the shooting.

On the morning of Wednesday, April 15, 2026, PPB's Special Emergency Reaction Team (SERT) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of North Argyle Street. During the operation, officers located and arrested the suspect and recovered two firearms.

Recovered firearms

The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Joey A. Radford. He was transported to the Multnomah County Detention Center, where he was lodged on the following charges: Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon (two counts), Felon in Possession of a Firearm, and Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle.

"This arrest reflects the dedication and coordination of our investigative and tactical teams in holding individuals accountable for violent behavior in our community," Chief Bob Day said. "Road rage incidents involving firearms are especially dangerous. We are grateful that no one was injured in this case, and we remain committed to ensuring the safety of Portland residents."

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 26-40633.
