A scooter rider died a week after colliding with a vehicle on March 24, 2026.

On March 24, 2026, at 8:06 p.m. Central Precinct Officers responded to a crash involving a scooter and vehicle in the area of the 3100 Block of Northeast Sandy Boulevard.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found the rider of the scooter was injured. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. On March 31, 2026, the Medical Examiner's Officer informed PPB that the scooter rider had died. He is identified as Kyle Stahl, 38, of Portland. His family has been notified of his death.
Officers learned the scooter was traveling eastbound on Northeast Sandy Boulevard when a vehicle made an illegal U-turn into the rider's path. The driver of the vehicle was cited for Illegal U-Turn Contributing to an Accident and Careless Driving Causing Significant Injury Or Death To A Vulnerable Road User.
