The suspect who hit and run PPB officers in January has been arrested and is in jail facing numerous charges, while the injured officers are still on injury leave working to recover.

Following the January 13th crash, the Portland Police Traffic Investigations Unit (TIU) investigated the crash and located the suspect vehicle, a blue 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, which was seized as evidence. Investigative work led to the identification of a suspect, Terrell D. Henry, 55.
The Multnomah County District Attorney's Office presented the evidence to a Grand Jury, and an indictment and arrest warrant was issued for Henry.
On May 13, 2026, Henry was located in the Parkrose Neighborhood and arrested by members of the Special Emergency Reaction Team. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver with Injury (class C felony, 2 counts), Failure to Perform the Duties of a Driver with Property Damage, Driving while Suspended or Revoked DWS (misdemeanor), Reckless Driving, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
While the officers' initial injuries appeared to be minor, and they were treated and released from the hospital the same day, both officers are still suffering the effects of the crash. They both remain on injury leave as they work to heal.

Two PPB Officers Injured in Crash; Suspect Vehicle Flees Scene
Two Portland Police officers suffered minor injuries in a hit-and-run crash.
On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at approximately 2:40 a.m., in the area of Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Stark Street, officers assigned to the Portland Police Bureau's East Precinct were responding to a call with lights and sirens when their marked patrol vehicle was struck by another vehicle. The collision caused significant damage to the passenger side of the police vehicle and resulted in all airbags deploying. One of the officers was unable to exit the vehicle until Portland Fire & Rescue arrived and pried open the passenger-side door. Both officers were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and later released.
The vehicle that collided with the PPB vehicle fled the scene following the crash. The suspect vehicle is described as a dark-colored Chevy Suburban. It should have front end damage to include damage to the front bumper.
"I am incredibly thankful that both officers are okay and were able to go home," Chief Bob Day said. "This could have been much worse, and we're grateful for the quick response from our partner agencies."
