One person is deceased following a crash on I-5.

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., officers assigned to the Portland Police Bureau’s North Precinct attempted to conduct a traffic stop on North Rosa Parks Way. Rather than comply, the driver eluded. While officers did not pursue the vehicle, it ultimately crashed near the on-ramp to I-5 southbound at North Rosa Parks Way. The driver, an adult male, proceeded to cross the southbound lanes of I-5 into the northbound lanes where he was struck and killed by a passing vehicle. The driver of the involved vehicle stopped and is cooperating with law enforcement.

PPB’s Major Crash Team (MCT) is responding to the scene. During the investigation, the northbound lanes of I-5 will be shut down between North Killingsworth Street and North Rosa Parks Way, and the southbound lanes will be shut down between North Lombard Street and North Killingsworth Street.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov, attn: Traffic Investigations Unit, and reference case number 25-245427.
